Cathy Meyer is the Environmental Effort committee chair for Bloomington in Bloom.
Cathy has been a Naturalist for the Monroe County Parks and Recreation Department in Bloomington, Indiana, since 1991. She is responsible for planning and implementing environmental education presentations for school groups, teachers, day camps, and the public and is a facilitator for Project WET, Project WILD, PLT, and Hoosier RiverWatch. She also serves on local committees for storm water quality, Safe Routes to School, alternative transportation, and tourism and planning committees for Hoosier Recreation Workshop, Birdathon, Wildflower Foray, International Migratory Bird Day, Habitat Stewards, Master Naturalists, Ag Day, Kids Unplugged, and other events.
With Master’s Degrees in Biology and Environmental Science from Indiana University, Cathy has also worked for the DNR Divisions of Nature Preserves, Fish and Wildlife, Reservoirs, and State Parks and has served as a Steward for The Nature Conservancy and Sycamore Land Trust, President of EEAI and the Sassafras Audubon Society. She has received the EEAI Howard Michaud Award and President’s Award, Historic Southern Indiana Interpreter of the Year, PLT Outstanding Facilitator Award, National Association of Interpretation Service Award, National Audubon Society Meritorious Service Award, and the Girl Scout Council of Tulip Race Clara Kinsey Award for Outdoor Education.
